Looking After
Sam & Connie Perkins Central Court, The Estelle S. & Robert A. Long Ellis Foundation Gallery, Dolph Simons Family Gallery
Looking After will showcase the long-standing partnership between the Spencer Museum of Art and K–12 Kansas teachers that nurtures an educational community focused on art and care. Art is a visual language that allows us to express ideas we might not be able to put into words. Art can activate prior knowledge, open conversations, encourage curiosity, and increase tolerance for ambiguity. The Spencer’s robust collection is a catalyst for education and learning and has been a guiding star for teachers and students in Kansas for more than 50 years, most recently through the Partners in Education Across Kansas (PEAK) program. This exhibition will feature works from the collection that have inspired Kansas educators and contributed to enhanced learning experiences for K–12 students across the state.
Looking After is co-curated by Spencer School & Educator Engagement Coordinator Rachel Straughn-Navarro and Spencer Director of Education & Interpretation Kristina Walker.
