Pennie Liu

Spring 2018
School of Architecture & Design

Pennie Liu is an undergraduate student in the School of Architecture & Design. In collaboration with the University of Oxford and New York University, Liu worked as an architectural drafter on an excavation in Turkey’s Aphrodisias Archaeological Park. She has also worked with researchers from all over the world on the conservation, graphic records, and 3D modeling of Greek artifacts and ancient ruins. Liu has had the uncommon experience of living and working inside an UNESCO World Heritage Site that doubled as a research compound, which provided her with a unique perspective of her research subject. As a student of architecture, Liu investigates and interprets historical structures, materials, and spatial organization to better understand the present, and improve the future. During spring 2018, Liu will work with Dr. Keith Van de Riet to explore the uses of modern technology in order to create stronger structural artistry and meaningful designs.
