Celebrate Earth Day with an exploration of the exhibition Big Botany: Conversations with the Plant World and an excursion into the surrounding landscape led by Curator Stephen Goddard, artist Sarah Hearn, and Collection Manager of KU’s McGregor Herbarium Caleb Morse. From 2:00-2:45pm, Goddard discusses the research behind the exhibition and how artists reveal humankind’s historic, contemporary, and future relationships with plants. From 2:45-4:00pm, Hearn and Morse discuss different types of lichen, share specimens collected near and far, and invite an even closer look through microscopes and, weather permitting, along a brief lichen walk through Marvin Grove.
