Directions & Parking
The Spencer Museum of Art is located on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence. The building is directly behind the Kansas Union and directly south of the football stadium.
There is a drop off area at the front entrance of the Museum on Mississippi Street. This is a five-minute load/unload zone and vehicles may not be left unattended.
Free parking for Museum visitors is available on the first level of the Mississippi Street Garage next to the Kansas Union from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. After entering the garage from Mississippi Street, visitors should immediately turn left, passing through the yellow posts, and then right, following signs that indicate the Museum parking area. Make note of your license plate number and stop at our Welcome Desk to have your parking validated.
The Mississippi Street Garage includes accessible parking spaces. Limited mobility parking is available in front of the Museum; visit the Welcome Desk for a temporary KU permit. Parking along Mississippi Street and in lot 91 behind the Museum is free after 5pm on weekdays and at all times on weekends.
Please note that parking, including accessible spaces, is limited during KU Football home games and other major events on campus, and may have increased costs.
Bicycle racks are located on the west side of the building outside the Art History Department entrance.
The Spencer Museum is accessible via the Lawrence Transit system. You can find fare and route information online.
