Drawing Studio: Still Life

Larry & Barbara Marshall Family Balcony, 404

This interactive exhibition explores still lifes in the Museum's collection and invites visitors to create their own. A still life is an artistic interpretation of an arrangement of objects that do not move. Many still lifes depict objects such as fruit, flowers, dishes, and even dead animals. The Spencer Museum's collection features several examples of still lifes, including those within the Drawing Studio, as well as several on display throughout our other galleries. In the Drawing Studio, you can learn about what makes the exhibited still lifes distinct and create your own by drawing one of the arrangements on display. Supplies are provided.
