Join us for a two-day celebration of two new exhibitions! In the galleries, Debut features objects from the collection that have never been on display. In Marvin Grove, Understories features 12 installations by KU and Haskell students as part of our Backyard Bash. Please note that face masks are required indoors on the KU campus regardless of vaccination status and are encouraged outdoors also.
Thursday, October 21, 5:00–7:00PM
5:30PM: Curator Kris Ercums leads a tour of highlights from the new exhibition Debut.
6:00PM: Remarks and dedication in memory of Reggie Robinson by Spencer Museum Director Saralyn Reece Hardy; Reece Memorial Plaza in front of the Museum
6:30PM: Sunset celebration of new student installations in Marvin Grove

Friday, October 22, 10:00AM–5:00PM
10:00AM–2:00PM: Alternating every 30 minutes, Spencer interns lead short tours of the exhibition Debut and Amorphous Ensemble offers pop-up music performances.
11:00AM–12:00PM: Field Ecology students lead a tour of the history and biology of Marvin Grove.
11:00AM–3:00PM: Stop by the Art Cart for a hands-on activity about creating space.
1:00PM–4:00PM: Drop by Open Fridays in our Goddard Study Center to request works on paper not currently on view
2:00PM–3:00PM: Meet the student artists whose work is featured in Understories in Marvin Grove and mingle with Baby Jay.
3:30PM–4:30PM: Sonya Lancaster, Associate Director of First- and Second-Year English, speaks about her selections of cultural artifacts from the World's Fair on display in the Brosseau Learning Center.
4:00PM–5:00PM: The KU Painting Club captures the scene in Marvin Grove. Enjoy as a spectator or bring materials to sketch or paint.
