ARTISTS RESPOND

Artists Respond is an online exhibition that brings together new work by artists who have previously engaged with the Spencer Museum and University of Kansas communities. We invited these artists and creative professionals to share current work and reflect on the present moment. Submissions reflect issues ranging from the strangeness and boredom of self-quarantine during a global pandemic to the ongoing injustices of systemic racism and climate change. The exhibition builds on the Museum’s publication Artists Inhabit the Museum and is organized in solidarity with other online exhibitions similarly concerned with keeping artists’ voices in public discourse while museums and other exhibition spaces are temporarily closed. Our goal was to create a shared sense of community that contemplates art and creativity during these challenging times. We invite you to explore the submissions by clicking on the artists listed on this page. Be safe and well.
