The Prints of John S. deMartelly
Exhibition Overview

This exhibition represents the first comprehensive examination of the prints of the American artist John S. deMartelly (1903-1979) and the first major retrospective of his work since a 1970 exhibition at the Kresge Art Gallery, Michigan State University. Although deMartelly is a well-known entity as a printmaker, his reputation is largely based on his Regionalist lithographs issued by Associated American Artists. This exhibition provides the opportunity to consider not only his Regionalist work, but also his less well-known early intaglio prints and later lithographs.
