Group Visits

All of our group visit options—including experiences guided by our staff—are free

Please contact us at least three weeks in advance so that we can help you plan the best experience and ensure there is enough space in our galleries.

It's also possible to book our spaces and facilities.

K–12 classes

K–12 classes can book a tour guided by Museum staff or facilitate a self-guided visit. Both options are free. We recommend a 12:1 student/staff ratio.

Museum staff tours

We offer several facilitated tours of the Museum to school groups. Our most common tours are:

  • Art Museum Stories reinforces visual art and English language arts learning for 3rd-grade students by introducing them to the Spencer and the narratives shared through works of art and museums.

  • Art and Community explores how life experiences influence the way we relate to art, how learning about art can impact how we see the world, and what we can learn from our responses to art.  This tour reinforces Kansas history, government, and social studies learning for 4th-grade students.

  • Spencer Selections showcases the depth and breadth of our collection while closely examining some of the most famous artists and artworks on view.

Custom tours are also available. Please complete a group visit form with your interests and we'll take it from there.

Self-guided tours

We welcome self-guided school groups to the Museum, but we also require you to book in advance to ensure we have adequate space in the galleries.

Accessibility

Please let us know in the group visit form if anyone in your group has additional needs, such as an IEP or a 504 plan. This will help us accommodate everyone in your group and ensure as much as possible that all participants have an equal experience.

Please contact us at least three weeks in advance even if you plan to be self-guided. This is so we can ensure there is adequate space in the galleries on the day, and that there is someone to welcome and orient you when you arrive.
