Joining our Friends of the Art Museum (FAM) community means you belong to a group of passionate advocates for the arts. Together, FAM members empower the Spencer Museum to fuel creativity, dialogue, and discovery through exhibitions and events that are free and open to all.

How to join Friends of the Art Museum
Becoming a Friend is easy:
- Join online through KU Endowment
- Fill out a form at our Welcome Desk on your next visit
- Contact us at fam@ku.edu or 785-864-2410 and we’ll get you signed up
Levels and benefits
Join today or renew your membership in Friends of the Art Museum with an annual gift at one of the following levels.
Friend Membership: $5 to $50
We want everyone to be a Friend of the Art Museum! Our first level of membership has a sliding scale of $5 to $50 so you can give what fits your budget. In recognition of your generosity, you will receive:
- Invitations to exhibition previews and special events for yourself and one guest
- A complimentary subscription to our bi-annual printed member newsletter View
- Program and exhibition announcements through our bi-weekly E/News
Individual Membership: $100
All benefits listed above, plus:
- Free admission and discounts at more than 1,000 museums in the North American Reciprocal Museum Association (NARM) and Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM)
- Special pricing on books and merchandise in our Museum Shop
Dual Membership: $250
All benefits listed above, plus:
- A second, transferable membership card with NARM and ROAM benefits
Director's Circle Membership: $1,000
All benefits listed above, plus:
- Membership in the Director's Circle, a distinct leadership group within FAM
- Invitations to collection tours, receptions, and other special events with the Museum Director and visiting artists and scholars

Reciprocal Memberships
A reciprocal membership is a group of organizations, like museums, arts centers, and botanical gardens, that agree to honor each other’s memberships. That means that if you join Friends of the Art Museum at the individual level or above you will also receive member benefits at more than 1,000 other museums!
The Spencer Museum belongs to three reciprocal membership programs. To use your reciprocal membership, just show your current Friends of the Art Museum card with the NARM and ROAM stickers at participating institutions for discounts and benefits.
- The North American Reciprocal Museums (NARM) program includes free admission and discounts to art and history museums, botanical gardens, children’s museums, and science centers. You can visit places like the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver or The Frick Collection in New York for free.
- The Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM) program includes free admission and other discounts at over 500 museums in the United States and Canada. Enjoy free admission at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art or the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
- The College and University Art Museums Reciprocal Program includes free or discounted admission at more than 70 college and university art museums nationwide. Visit organizations like the Rhode Island School of Design Museum or the Georgia Museum of Art.
