Professional Development

We provide a variety of resources for K–12 educators to grow their skill sets, connect with peers, and enrich classroom teaching

Partners in Education Across Kansas (PEAK)

Our main professional development opportunity is Partners in Education Across Kansas (PEAK), funded by the Department of Education and developed by Museum staff in collaboration with community educators. Participating educators receive a stipend for their involvement in the program, which expands their knowledge of integrating art into classroom teaching.

Spencer Teacher Advisory Board

Our Spencer Teacher Advisory Board represents all grade levels and disciplines in the Lawrence public school district. The board advises Museum staff on the best ways to reach and support teachers and students and advocates for integrating the Spencer into the school community. Participating teachers attend two in-person meetings, spend approximately eight hours reviewing Museum materials, and receive a stipend for their participation each semester.
