Event description

Moderated by Curator Cassandra Mesick Braun, this is the third in a series of conversations with artists in the exhibition "Healing, Knowing, Seeing the Body." In celebration of National Poetry Month, this session features artist Dario Robleto and Kansas Poet Laureate Huascar Medina and focuses on interpretations of the human heartbeat and how scientists and artists record, send, receive, reconfigure, and share data. From the earliest scientific pulse wave recordings of the human heartbeat, Robleto produced a portfolio of prints focused not on examples related to disease, but on recordings and notations of everyday activities. Medina then resequenced the prints into five distinct portraits of life, forming a visual poem and drawing through-lines to those who came before us. In the first half hour, the artists introduce their work. In the second half hour, we invite you to join the conversation. This event includes live closed captions in English.
