Kate Meyer, curator
July 5, 2014–April 5, 2015
Gallery 317, Spencer Museum of Art, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas
In this exhibition, works in each of the four corners of the Spencer’s Central Court explore the concept of Minimalism, a style of art pared down to its essential elements. These works include two contemporary experimental films by W. S. Cheng and eight prints by conceptual artist Sol LeWitt.
These Minimalist investigations provide a new counterpoint to James Turrell’s Gard Blue, a projection of light set within a darkened triangular alcove, on view in the center of the same gallery.
