Exhibition Label: "Minimal Additions," Jul-2014, Kate Meyer “I describe Study No. 14 as a technical exercise in pattern and timing. The work stemmed from the parameters in music/sound (e.g., pitch, tone, dynamics and timbre) and the concept of Expanded Cinema/Media. The computer was/is my tool of choice to create and disseminate/present ‘data.’ Hence, I see Study No. 14 as a piece of ‘data’ that can be used for archive, exhibition, and research.” -W.S. Cheng W.S. Cheng, a former lecturer in KU’s Department of Film and Media Studies collaborated with Robert Hurst, a professor in the same department, to produce this video. The digital experimental motion picture features three rectangular frames, each containing four parallel lines that peak and fall in different patterns and spaces.
