This fragment is representative of Sassanian art. The winged tree in the center is typically Sassanian, as is the symmetry of the birds nesting in the branches and the quadrupeds at the foot of the tree. While the date of this textile is later than the Sassanian dynasty (3rd-7th century), the artistic styles and motifs can still be seen in this textile. In fact, many were still utilized over the centuries and are evident in the continuous use of Greco-Roman motifs well into the early Christian era.
