"The Tea Ceremony," Apr-2014, Kris Imants Ercums
Hagi ware first was produced by Koreans potters and brought to Japan in the 1590s. Most antique hagi bowls were associated with the tea ceremony, hagi bowls being considerd second in quality only to raku ware. Hagi ware is characterized by a simple transparent glaze which allowed the focus to be on the clay itself.
