Staging Shimomura
When Shimomura received the 47th Distinguished Professor Award from the University of Kansas in 1996, he delivered a lecture inside a performance. While seated in an armchair, he begins the lecture: “It seriously started in 1984, when I thought it would be nice to own a video camera in order to make my home video version of ‘Champion Fishing with Bill Dance.’”
