here-ing is an environmentally-embedded work of art by Bahamian artist Janine Antoni. It takes the form of a labyrinth in the shape of the anatomy of the human ear and is located at the KU Field Station. The work is invested in the slippage between inner and outer landscapes, asking participants to listen with their whole bodies as they enter the land through an organ of receptivity. The work is also a gentle push toward a healthier grassland. This work is a collaboration among the Spencer Museum of Art, the Kansas Biological Survey and Center for Ecological Research, and the Designbuild Studio in the School of Architecture & Design at the University of Kansas.
