Exhibition Label: "Geometric Abstractions: Quilts 1870 to 1990," Jun-2002, Samantha Schramm Even though this quilt is closer in style to the work of her mother Anna Gleissner Good, it has been attributed to Rose Kretsinger. The implication in Rose’s book The Romance of the Patchwork Quilt in America is that she made it, and her name is sewn on the back of this quilt. It might have been her first work, and it remains her only known pieced quilt. The pattern is a variation of the eight-point star. The myriad shapes of a snowflake might have been the inspiration for this unique design that is called Snow Crystals and sometimes Yankee Pride. The combination of star shapes with a Wild-Goose-Chase border adds to the individual appearance and interest of the work.
