Exhibition Label: “Flowers, Dragons and Pine Trees: Asian Textiles in the Spencer Museum of Art,” Nov-2005, Mary Dusenbury The flowers depicted on this textile are typical of seventeenth century floral motifs on textiles and the borders of early shawls. The design later was abstracted and elongated into the boteh or cone pattern associated with Kashmir shawls.
