Label texts

Archive Label: How a body is situated within the space of a picture can define the viewer’s relationship to it. Cropping the image right up to these men’s arms and legs brings their bodies forward, positioning them in our space as (literally) close friends. This is in sharp contrast to scientific distance between photographer and his subjects as in the Frith & Company photograph nearby.
