These prints from the 1880s tot he 1950s are by six Kansas printmakers who were the pioneers of printmaking in Kansas. They forged a tradition where none existed;. They convey a devotion to landscape, almost to the exclusion of the figure. They care little for situations, for the self-conscious portrayal of "the American Scene," seem unaware of history and wee not recording their subjects with the backward glance of nostalgia.
