Exhibition featuring abstract photographs and photograms created through a variety of techniques which distort the camera’s natural image or eliminate the camera image entirely.
“Vortographs by the late pioneering abstract photographer Alvin Langdon Coburn in 1917, and “Rayographs” by artist Man Ray are among the historic works in the exhibition. Other photographers represented are Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Francis Bruguiere, Frederick Sommer, Nathan Lerner, Gyorgy Kepes, Barbara Morgan, Lotte Jacobi and Carlotta Corpron.
Organized by the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The exhibition is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Missouri Arts Council.
