August 20, 1986–September 15, 1986
Kress Gallery, Spencer Museum of Art, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas

Dr. Harold E. Edgerton's photographic experiments began with his perfection of the stroboscopic flash. They have enabled us to "see the unseen." This exhibition of 86 original prints given to the Spencer Museum by Mr. and Mrs. Richard F. young, includes 75 black and white and 11 color works by the famed M.I.T. scientist. These photographs demonstrate the great range o natural phenomena which he studied with his camera. Edgerton is perhaps most famous for the studies which reveal the effects, actions, and patterns of impacting objects. The photographer-scientist will speak at the Spencer Museum at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 6.
