An exhibition of two collaborative portfolios by New York artist Keith Haring and Lawrence author William S. Burroughs. Apocalypse is a 1988 portfolio of screenprinted images by Haring printed on paper and text by Burroughs printed on clear plastic. The Valley is an unbound, boxed book with 15 etchings by Haring and 15 photo-etched handwritten text pages by Burroughs. These portfolios are the complete published collaborative works by Burroughs and Haring. Keith Haring is best known for his graffiti images from subway walls that have been transferred to everything from billboards to t-shirts to greeting cards and watches. He died of AIDS in 1990. William Burroughs, a Lawrence resident since 1981, is a leading innovator in post-modern art and literature and a member of the group of writers labeled as the beat generation in the late 1950s.
