Archive Label 2003: Cork Marcheschi’s work moves the spectator beyond the frame by using electrical energy. He employs electric light as a subject as well as a visual element, in the way that other artists use paint or metal. Here, the artist manipulates the pure colored light of neon as if it were sculpture, while recalling the vaporous, minimal forms of color-field painters like Mark Rothko.
