Exhibition Label: "Printed Art and Social Radicalism," Jun-2002, Stephen Goddard Robert The has commented on his cut books, "Books I cull from dumpsters and thrift store bins are lovingly vandalized back to life so they can assert themselves against the culture which has turned them into debris." In this case, the book that The has run through the bandsaw and transformed into a handgun is Black Water by Joyce Carol Oates, a book noted for its depictions of violence and evil in modern society.
