This wallpaper roller, and others like it, was carved by Gysin so that it could be inked and used to roll out an endlessly repeating grid pattern. Gysin and Burroughs used these printed grids for The Third Mind and other projects. Burroughs continued to use Gysin’s rollers in his own works after Gysin’s death.
