Exhibition Label: "John Steuart Curry: Agrarian Allegories," Aug-2006, Kate Meyer As propaganda for the Department of the Treasury during the Second World War, Curry’s Our Good Earth poster emphasized the role of the farmer in the preservation of American prosperity through agriculture. The threat implicit in the continued title - …Keep It Ours - suggests the act of buying war bonds would aid not only U.S. troops, but presumably help protect American soil and even an American way of life.
