Tomassie makes a kayak for the museum. His grandchildren play in the sun while he patiently carves and fits the pieces together. They are from the wood of abandoned snow mobile crates.

When I showed this photograph to Tomassie’s grandchildren, they asked me what it was. I
explained. They nodded and replied that they had heard it mentioned in one of his stories.
