Exhibition Label: “C.A. Seward: Artist and Draftsman,” Feb-2010, Kate Meyer Seward was the art editor for The Kansas Magazine from 1909-1912 and was also the subject of a 1937 tribute article written by his colleague Birger Sandzén. The Kansas Magazine celebrated the state’s literature, arts, and culture. For this July issue, Seward created a whimsical cowboy figure that stands ready for adventure, danger, and even injury with a pistol in one hand and an armful of fireworks and first-aid equipment in the other.
