And Still We Rise

1826: Levi Coffin establishes the Underground Railroad in Indiana, and eventually there will be 21 documented Freedom Stations. This network is represented by circles and padded pockets in this quilt. Levi and his wife, Catherine, sheltered more than 2,000 runaways, and this involvement earned him the nickname “President of the Underground Railroad.”
