And Still We Rise

1909: The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is founded in New York by a group of prominent white intellectuals and several African American leaders, including W. E. B. Du Bois. The organization aims to combat the continued and horrific practice of lynching. The NAACP will serve as the country’s most influential African American civil rights organization, dedicated to political equality and social justice. Later, Ella Baker, Roy Wilkins, and Julian Bond will be among the organization’s most well-known leaders.
