And Still We Rise

1925: A. Philip Randolph organizes the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the first successful African American trade union. Randolph will be a prominent labor and civil rights leader throughout his life. Among other accomplishments, he will be an architect of the historic 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington, a peaceful demonstration promoting civil rights and economic equality for African American persons. Randolph will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1964.
