And Still We Rise

1931: Nine African American youths are indicted in Scottsboro, Alabama, on charges of having raped two white women. The jury sentences them to death on fabricated evidence. The Supreme Court will overturn the jury’s convictions twice. Each time, Alabama will retry the youths and find them guilty. In a final trial, four of the Scottsboro boys will be freed, but five will be sentenced to extensive prison terms.
