And Still We Rise

1957: Nine African American students are blocked from entering the previously segregated Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, on the orders of Governor Orval Faubus. President Dwight D. Eisenhower orders the Arkansas National Guard to escort the “Little Rock Nine” into school, declaring, “Mob rule cannot be allowed to overrule the decisions of the courts.” Despite violent threats against them, several of the Little Rock Nine will graduate. Central High School will later be declared a National Historic Site.
