Larry Schwarm: Kansas Farmers

“Kansas leads the nation in sorghum production, although it is frequently less profitable than corn or wheat. The non-genetically modified crop requires less water than corn and is gaining popularity in export markets, making it an attractive lower-risk choice for a high risk environment” (pg.32). Kansas is a major grower of commodity crops. Only Iowa and North Dakota planted more acreage between 2015 and 2017.
