Reading the World
Lilly McElroy’s I Control the Sun depicts her ongoing struggle to control and play tricks on this celestial body. As a light-based medium, photography is also the subject of the work. McElroy’s battle with the source of light is boldly defiant, but she will never win. At once headstrong and tongue-in-cheek, this series depicts her playful approach to operating within the constraints of this artistic medium.
