Event description
Sallie Casey Thayer’s gift of her collection to KU in 1917 largely excluded African art. The exhibition Race, Gender, and the “Decorative” in 20th-Century African Art seeks to rectify this omission by displaying African artworks contemporary with Thayer’s gift. Co-curator and KU Assistant Professor in African and African-American Studies Jessica Gerschultz presents this talk. Senior Sessions are designed for senior citizens but open to everyone.
