Renowned painter, quilt-maker, and author Faith Ringgold discusses her life in art and the continued relevance of artistic activism in dialogue with KU Distinguished Professor Maryemma Graham, Director of the Project on the History of Black Writing. Michael Davison, Director of Explore Lawrence, introduces the event. Ringgold’s talk opens the second annual National African American Quilt Convention held in Lawrence and Topeka July 11–14, 2018. Awards and remarks will be presented by artist and convention organizer Marla A. Jackson. Reception with the artist at 5:30PM. Program begins at 6:00PM.
