Building on the Spencer’s 2025 exhibition "Soundings: Making Culture at Sea" and the launch of an accompanying virtual exhibition, this moderated discussion further explores exhibition themes. Panelists include Emily Casey ("Soundings" co-curator and KU art history professor) and art historians Kailani Polzak (University California Santa Cruz), Bart Pushaw (University of Tennessee at Chattanooga), and Vidhita Raina (Colorado State University), whose work explores different ocean geographies and cultural histories, including the Pacific, Arctic, and Indian Oceans.
