Event description

Enjoy the classic silent films The Immigrant (Charlie Chaplin) and Un Chien Andalou (Luis Buñuel) with a live musical score by Alex Kimball Williams and Mike Quillin, and multilingual audio description by Audio Reader. This event also features a Free State Festival edition of Spencer Projects, our pop-up series of projections that beams art from the Museum’s collection into the community. You can also pick up the Spencer’s free Art Cart kit to make your own zoetrope, an early animation device that creates the illusion of motion, while supplies last. The films may be experienced drive-in style from the Douglas County Fairgrounds parking lot or lawn chair seating by your vehicle. Please bring your own lawn chairs and refreshments. Festival staff will assist in parking and socially distant seating. Audio reader will provide live audio description available by headset or car radio transmission. Restrooms are available on site. In the event of inclement weather, this event will move inside the Douglas County Fairgrounds Open Pavilion. Tickets $10/car. 8:00PM Doors / 8:30PM Spencer Projects / 9:00PM Films.
