2011 Freeman Foundation Artist in ResidenceSpencer Museum of Art: Artist Jin Shan
Event date, time, and location
Event description
Straight from the bustling streets of Shanghai, join us as Chinese artist Jin Shan shares his artistic practice in preparation for his 2011 spring residency at the Spencer Museum. A founding member of the Comfortable Collective, Jin Shan creates interactive, playful installations that drive at issues erupting out of China’s dizzying transformation into a globalized, commercial society. From his life‐size self portrait desperate pee (2007), that was burned to a crisp at the Venice Biennale, to his recent solo show Stephen the Speculator, which included “How to Produce an Atomic Bomb,” Jin Shan pushes boundaries. This residency is supported by the Freeman Foundation and co‐sponsored by the Center for East Asian Studies.
