Join Curator of Global Contemporary and Asian Art Kris Ercums to learn about Prepared: Strategies for Activists, a new project from Chen Shaoxiong, this spring’s Freeman Foundation International Artist-in-Residence at the Spencer. Chen, a Beijing-based artist, has developed an artistic practice that deploys humorous play in an abiding pursuit to uncover and understand the mechanisms of contemporary political culture. He will spend three weeks working with University students, faculty, staff, and a broad cross-section of the Kansas City metropolitan community to create artworks designed to impart a better understanding of effective protest strategies.
