Event description

2011 was a year of protests -- from the Arab Spring to the Occupy Wall Street movement. This inaugural forum, in conjunction with Prepared: Strategies for Activists, brings together a diverse panel of speakers for short 10-minute presentations that examine how protests work across a broad range of historical and geo-political contexts. Then, meet Chen Shaoxiong, SMA artist-in-residence, as he kick starts his project. Don't miss this opportunity to create art and join the exhibition. Speakers for Workshop I: Anatomy of a Protest Mark Johnson, KU School of Journalism & Mass Communications Allan Hanson, KU Department of Anthropology David Loewenstein, Lawrence Percolator Timothy Miller, KU Department of Religious Studies Light dinner will be provided.
