Event description

Every year, Spencer Museum Director Saralyn Reece Hardy spends an afternoon in the galleries personally welcoming visitors and leading informal tours to celebrate the holiday season. This year, inspired by James Turrell’s "Gard Blue"-the featured work of art in Central Court-her tours follow an unexpected theme: the color blue. Masterful use of the color blue serves as a thread connecting objects rarely considered side by side. Participants will follow that thread together. Works of art to be explored range from Andy Warhol’s "Portrait of Rauschenberg," a screenprint created in 1962, to Mark Antonio Franceschini’s "The Muse of Astronomy," an oil-on-canvas painting created in Italy in the late 17th century or early 18th century. Tours begin every hour on the hour at 1, 2, and 3 PM. Happy holidays!
