Ke-Sook Lee
Event date, time, and location
Event description
Korean-American artist Ke-Sook Lee visits the Spencer Museum of Art to create a new site-specific installation titled Ode to Sprout II in which varied shades of blue thread, punctuated with yellow, sprout skyward from neatly bunched spools. The work is featured in the exhibition Holding Pattern alongside recent acquisitions, including Lee’s Green Hammock, constructed from U.S. Army nurse uniforms, and Awakening in Her Garden 3, a stitched fabric and rice paper piece with organic glyphs evocative of East Asian calligraphy. Preview the exhibition before it opens to the public, and join the artist for a discussion about the works on view and the autobiographical nature of her fiber-based installations.
