Over 80 works of art inspired by Herman Melville's classic 1851 novel in an exhibition organized by the Spencer Museum with guest curator Elizabeth Schultz, University of Kansas Chancellor's Club Professor, English. The show investigated the myriad ways modern American artists have responded to the great 19th century novel, from the illustrations by Rockwell Kent to a monumental sculpture series by Frank Stella. Major funding provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities, a federal agency.
