Exhibition Label: "Venice Observed," Dec-1980, Elizabeth Broun and Yolanda de Estrada The Palazzo Rezzonico, built in the 18th century, has a rusticated ground floor. The "piano nobile" (second floor) used the Serlian or Palladian motif, in which a row of small arches supported by columns forms a minor order, which is framed by a much larger order of columns and lintels. The top story shows a variation of the Serlian motif, in which pilasters have been substituted for columns in the minor order.
