Exhibition Label: “Embodiment,” Nov-2005, Kate Meyer A pregnant woman is a potent example of a body and an identity in flux. This photograph explores the transition from pregnancy to motherhood as a young woman stands in the nursery of her impending child. With her face turned away from the viewer, she achieves anonymity possibly suggesting that the photographer is presenting an icon of maternity as much as an individual expectant mother.
